Twitterville update 1.2 sent to Apple for review

Update 1.2 was sent off to Apple at the beginning of this week and should be live in a few days!

Bugs, fixes and updates for version 1.2

• Added the ‘Twitturly Top 100′ page
• When refreshing the timelines, the navigation bar now says, “Refreshing…” on it
• A tweet longer than 140 characters can now be split up into 2 tweets automatically using the ‘Spread Tweet’ feature
• Direct messages now notifies the user when a message has been sent and closes the compose screen
• The main tab bar is now hidden when the user goes to the message view
• Added the URL shortener ‘TDY.ME’ to Twitterville
• User can now import their current location before editing it with ‘Edit Location’
• Updated image caching to save and load quicker
• Added the ability to ‘Watch users
• Now shows a confirmation alert to ask the user if they are sure they want to delete a tweet
• When closing the web view it actually stops loading the page
• Fixed a bug which caused the main timeline to refresh randomly
• Fixed a bug which caused the app to crash when adding a favorite
• Fixed a bug which caused the app to crash when clicking the follow user button
• Fixed a bug which caused the app to crash when loading up without any username or password
• Fixed a bug which caused the ‘Mentions’ tab to randomly reload without the user telling it to
• Fixed a bug which caused the ‘Mentions’ tab to crash when a user hadn’t added a username or password into the app
• Fixed a bug which caused the ‘Messages’ tab to crash on some iPhone OS versions
• Modified the code which caused the app to put a space in front of an image URL even when no text had been entered
• Added a ‘Options’ button to the profile view
• This let’s the user select more options such as show their recent tweets
• User can now view theirs or another users latest updated following list

Twitterville 1.1 Update – Now available!

Apple has now accepted the latest update for Twitterville and is available from the App Store as a free update!

Update 1.2 is currently in the works and will be released soon! Aiming at making 1.2 bug free, quick and a general great update.

Twitterville – Watch Users Feature (with demo video)

Above is a video demoing the new ‘Watch Users’ feature due to be enabled in Twitterville in a soon coming update.

This feature means the user can add certain users they want to ‘Watch’. This doesn’t mean the user actually follows them, it just means they have quick access to that persons recent tweet list.

A good reason to have this in the app, I so you can ‘follow’ a person without having all their tweets in the main timeline. If you feel like you do want to follow that user, feel free! They’ll get added to the main timeline if you wish, and also have them as a ‘Watched User’.

Twitterville Update Suggestions and Ideas

Hey all! A little post to show the kind of things that will be available in updates after version 1.1 (should be in the app store this/next week).

• ‘Watch users’ list with ability to add certain usernames to a table and view a users recent tweets without them getting added to the main timeline

Twitterville 1.1 Update

This is going to be a major update with loads of new features, a brand new Twitter engine for the app, new user interface changes and much more!

Here is a list of some of the things which will be added/changed with Twitterville for v1.1:

Brand New Features

• Search
• Trends
• Multiple Themes
• Upload images
• Image service selection
• Direct Messaging
• Save a draft tweet
• Follow new users
• New About Page
• Avatar image caching

Normal Timeline

• New tweet is shown once it’s been sent without having to reload
• Complete remake of the UITableView containing the list of tweets
• Cells resize depending on the amount of content in a tweet
• Now has the time since the post was made (i.e. ‘54 seconds ago’ or ‘1 minute ago’ etc)
• Choice of how many tweeds load

Profile View

• Check whether the person you are viewing is following you
• Complete UI change
• If the user is following you, then you can ‘direct message’ them from their profile

Reading the full tweet details

• The time has now been formatted correctly (i.e. 18 April 2009 at 18:24)
• You will now be able to see two people’s whole conversation
• Get a list of all the links, tags and @users in a tweet
  • Links go to an inbuilt browser
  • #Tags go to the ‘Search’ feature
  • @users – clicking on them will go to their profile
• View profiles from message view
• Delete own tweets

Replies Timeline

• Replies also now show the time past since the reply was made
• Now called ‘Mentions’

Appearance

• New icon
• Profile view theme completely remade
• Original theme completely redone
• New ‘iPhone’ theme added

Compose New Tweet

• Unfinished tweets can now be saved in drafts
  • Drafts are stored in the phones memory even when turned off
• Notifies user when tweet has been sent
• Updated the user interface

Direct Messaging

• Direct messaging has finally been enabled in Twitterville v2.0
• Send direct messages to anyone from their profile
• View your inbox/outbox

Settings

• More settings have been added to the Twitterville section in Settings.app
• Ability to clear the image cache when first loading it up. This gets reset back after opening the app again.
• Settings now shows the current version of the app
• Added the camera as another image source, as well as the photo library
• Added ‘twitgoo’ to image services list
• Added ‘yfrog’ to image services list
• Added ‘posterous’ to image services list
• Image compression slider added
• Choose number of search results
• Choose number of tweets to be downloaded
• Choose number of replies to be downloaded
• Choice of theme
• User can select the accuracy of the location settings ( GPS / Cell Tower )
• User can select whether or not they want the tweet to dismiss after sending

Twitter Engine

• Faster loading times
• Brand new Twitter Engine working with YAJL

Favorites

• You can now once again add a message to your favorites and also remove a favorite
• Favorites will now appear a different colour in the main list of tweets
• A refresh button has now been added to the view
• Profile images now show next to the favorites tweet list

Location

• You can now manually change your location by typing in where you are using a separate form
• Choose the accuracy of the GPS / Cell tower triangulation

Bug Fixes

• Now loads up the correct message straight away in ‘Favorites’. Used to load up the last selected one etc
• Favorites can now be added/removed again
• Fixed a profile view bug memory leak which caused a crash when viewing the profile and leaving too quickly
• Fixed a bug when selected a tweet to become a favorite and leaving the tweet
• Fixed a bug when loading a number of URL’s or TwitPic images from a tweet
• Fixed a bug where the action sheets bottom button couldn’t be selected

This is just a small post to say the current developments that are going on and how everything is going.

Twitterville

Twitterville is undergoing some great development and progress is going really well! I have sent v1.1 to Apple for review and should be available very soon.

I am also working on a large update (v2.0) which will contain many new features and make the app a good worthwhile buy. When v1.1 has been released I will post up what will be changing.

Website

As you can probably see, most of my development updates come on this blog. However, I will be soon buying some online space and making a website for my iPhone work. The website will contain only the most important information and basically a place where I can show the details about my apps, how to buy them, screenshots and contact information. The main bulk of my updates and small posts will go straight to this blog as per usual.

I will be posting when more news is available of my website coming live.

I’ve been away!

The reason I haven’t been posting much the past week is due to the fact that I’ve been away on a course in Oxford. However, I am now back home and have already done some work on Twitterville today!

I’m working mainly on the UI, a new icon and also to clean up some of the code and graphics to make it a much more user friendly and nice looking app. After this has been sent off to Apple (maybe next week?) I’ll be working hard on adding plenty of new features to the app to keep all of you happy !
