I am currently waiting on news from Apple, I suspect you will probably hear more about this late January. In the mean time, I am fixing a few tiny bugs, and having a look at a 1.1 update with new features and graphical changes. More news will be featured on this after reviews on the current version have come in and more bugs reported (although I don’t reckon there are any outstanding after this weeks development is completed).

This is still really early in the development so it’s hard to give accurate ETAs. But I can tell you, the app is now usable, however it still needs a lot of changing and testing before it can even be considered ‘App Store ready’. The current things which need changing will probably take just over a week, however the timescale to complete the app fully may be much longer however I do suspect a mid-February release once the testing has been fully completed on a number of devices.

New directions!

Hello all!

Again, I apologise for the lateness of my posts these days! I’ve just had no time with lot’s of work being done over Christmas and this New Year coming.

Anyway, back to what I’m trying to say…

The past few weeks I’ve been looking to invest in an iMac so I can start developing my own applications for the iPhone and for Mac in general. I’ve already had my head stuck in a few projects as of the past few months creating a few applications and bespoke software for MS Windows. I’m helping out with the rest of the development, testing and documentation of a final product and then I shall be on my way to getting the iMac I’ve been dreaming of.

Of course you may/may not know that I’ve not been keeping up with my main website either, nor have I been making any of my old ‘Flash Animations’ which I used to spend 90% of my time making. This is going to slightly change as I’ve started to develop more applications  than animations (as I find they do pay out a bit more…).

So starting early 2009 I will be redesigning and remaking a website for the applications that I am going to be developing for a number of platforms. Once this has kicked off I may start some Open Source projects, but as one person this will take a little more time managing and creating the right resources to be distributing the code around effectively, and taking in the response as best as I can.

One of the things that I am going to concentrate on, is the idea of posting screenshots and new information when products have been updated and when good development is going on. This way users can have their say and give feedback to improve a product further.

Anyway, so I’m just going to leave you with a few bullet points on the future for what me/my team will be starting:

  • Less animations, more software.
  • Completely new website and theme.
  • New means of communication to users. (IRC/Twitter/AIM/GTalk/Wiki/)
  • More updated Blog posts and Twitter posts.
  • Starting developing for Mac OS X.
  • Starting developing for iPhone OS.
  • Release of future MS Windows software.
  • Release of Open Source software once team and site has built up.

On that note, hope you all have a great new year and I’m sure 2009 will bring many good things!

Dominic.

New Cartoon on the way!

I’m currently in the middle of making one of my new Government Assassin cartoons! Yes, that’s right! I’m still carrying on the series!

The difference with this one is that it doesn’t follow on from any of the past story lines and uses a new character. However, because it’s the same kind of idea and way of animation, I thought I’d stick with the name as it’s quite a known series from me. This may be the last episode to end off the series so I may make it longer (which is better of course). My next cartoon will probably be a different genre.

I’ve uploaded a small taster onto YouTube. The quality is pretty bad, but that’s just the converter changing the SWF file into an AVI file which can be uploaded. The next version I upload will be better quality but I thought I’d just stick with the worse quality for now as I don’t want to spend too much time messing around with that until I’ve got the bulk of the cartoon over and done with.

The current uploaded video has no sound added and no enemies, fire and other props and effects. Also, note that this is just the first scene (which has not finished), and it’s pretty much just the main character shooting nobody. I just wanted to animate his features and get it all up and running.
